Why most of my customer’s websites will FAIL
I am an entrepreneur and owner of 40 websites (1st), as well as, a CEO of a company that provides advice and services to website owners (2nd).
Recently, I have been approached by a NASDAQ listed corporation which is interested in purchasing one of my master websites. The starting price for my website asset is in the mid six figures.
Meanwhile, I consult with a lot of small and medium sized businesses who “say” that want to achieve long-term success with their website. But when I compare how I manage and view my website and how they manage theirs; I am pretty sure they are going to be “road kill” on the internet super highway.
The absolute crazy part of it all is that I do the same thing on their website as I have done with mine. Then how can their website be a total bust and mine is worth a mint?
The answer is simple. When I do something that is incredibly successful like search engine optimization I am committed to do more of it like a FANATIC. My goal is DOMINATE and win ALL of the jelly beans in my niche business.
When they invest a modest amount of money in search engine optimization (just $199) and see their search rankings skyrocket they expect their income to skyrocket too. Online business doesn’t work that way. So they stop something that has tremendous long term promise and pull all of their players off of the field in the top of the first inning because they haven’t WON yet.
The thing about the internet is that when you win; you win REAL BIG and when you lose it’s a TOTAL BUST.
The difference between their goals is that they are “short term greedy” and I am ONLY “long term greedy”.
Sometimes, I think I give people a gold mine, but if they decide to stop digging after 15 minutes… they get what they deserve.
